Online Video Trends in the Real Estate Market

We all know that smartphones and the Internet are changing and shaping the way we live, work, interact, and consume. But how is this changing the real estate business landscape? For starters, home buyers now have more access to more information than ever before, unfortunately the information isn’t always accurate. Websites like Zillow and Realtor provide buyers with instant access to houses and prices that are currently on the market. This is leading to an increase in home buyers doing research on their own.

According to the 2013 Google/NAR study called The Digital House Hunt, “92 percent of homebuyers use the Internet to help them find their next home (by comparison, 87 percent use an agent). What’s more, the average homebuyer spends three weeks researching real estate online before even calling an agent.”

With that said, how should agents and brokers react and adapt to this new technology? It seems like having an online presence and being accessible through social media will soon be a necessity.

The Google/NAR study also found that “85 percent of buyers and sellers want to work with an agent who uses video. Homes listed with video get four times the inquiries of homes listed without video.”

So, guess what I’m doing? I’m making real estate videos. Starting with a virtual tour of our listing at 40 Grotto Avenue, Providence RI 02898. The video can be seen on our new youtube channel here.
